I sourced this khadi from WomenWeave; an organization which has supported the role of women in handloom weaving since its inception. working toward making handloom a profitable, fulfilling, sustainable and dignified income-earning activity particularly for women in rural areas of India.

Created to in collaboration with the visual artist Mary Anne Carter the Venus Shell was made imagining a future 2119

In this imagined future we live in a petroleum free world and the scarcity of plastics have made them a luxury. This garment was made entirely of fabrics from plastic based fibers some shaped with plastic boning and some permanently pleated with heat and pressure -the same forces that have led to the fate of the future.

Using shirring and volume I designed the Molly skirt for an expressive and romantic customer. Silver lame and blush pink tulle show that this skirt leans into the future with obvious ties to a more traditional past.
